Psychological assessments and evaluations objectively clarify the diagnoses and strengths of each individual with the intent of improving functioning or providing accommodations. These evaluations assess for mental disorders, such as Anxiety Disorders, Mood Disorders, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorders, Depressive Disorders, Traumatic Stress, and more. They can be used if there is a lack of clarity in a presenting concern or diagnosis as well as to guide concrete recommendations. Sometimes, mental disorders are difficult to diagnose based solely on an interview process. Standardized measures and quantitative data can serve to clarify diagnoses.
Evaluations may also be used to obtain academic or workplace accommodations if a mental disorder is causing impairments in academic or workplace functioning.
