Why Choose Interface Consulting & Psychological Services for Therapy in Miami?

1

PhD-Level Expertise in Research-Backed Therapy

Our therapists have the highest level of education in psychology (PhD). A PhD (vs a PsyD) in psychology degree means a provider learned how to do empirical research because they completed different research studies using their own data and advanced statistical analyses. A PhD in psychology degree also indicates a provider learned how to practice evidence-based therapy and evaluations and use objective, standardized assessments to diagnose.

2

Comprehensive Therapy Options

Our licensed psychologists offer treatments and therapies, like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Executive Functioning coaching (EF coaching), and leadership therapy for teens and adults.

3

Efficient And Effective Diagnosis & Treatment

Our therapists can conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations and integrate different therapies at the same time to address different diagnoses, making the process efficient and effective. We have intensive training in ACT, ERP, Executive Functioning, leadership development, and CBT.

4

Culturally Diverse And Inclusive Care

Our therapists aim to build relationships and support self-determined change with culturally diverse individuals, including Spanish-speaking clients and Latinx/e, Latina, Latino, and other historically underrepresented clients.

5

Confidential And Experienced Therapists

Our therapists are licensed, so they do not require supervision by any other person. This can mean a higher level of confidentiality and experience.

6

The right diagnosis and treatment can make a difference in your or your child’s life and mental and physical health; we never take this privilege lightly.

Our Therapy Services in Miami

ADHD Therapy

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a common condition that affects both teens and adults. It can make it challenging to stay focused, organized, and manage daily tasks. People with ADHD may also struggle with impulsivity or feel restless much of the time. However, with the right support and strategies, people with ADHD can learn to manage their symptoms and succeed in school, work, and everyday life.

Anxiety Therapy

Anxiety therapy involves a combination of progressive exposure to distressing stimuli, problem-solving, stress management, values-driven change, and cognitive restructuring.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Evidence-based cognitive therapies, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, are similar psychotherapies that have been scientifically supported in treating anxiety disorders, ADD or ADHD, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic, health conditions, and more.

Exposure Therapy

Exposure therapy works by slowly and carefully exposing a person to the situations, objects, or thoughts that cause them fear or anxiety. The idea is that by repeatedly facing these fears in a safe, supportive setting, the intensity of the fear decreases.

Individual Therapy

In-person or online individual therapy for teens and adults focuses on helping the person understand and manage their own thoughts, emotions, behaviors, values, and identities while applying personal strengths. Individual therapy can also help improve confidence, coping skills, social skills, and academic or workplace issues.

Leadership Therapy

Scientifically supported leadership therapy can help leaders assess and develop their leadership-based strengths and weaknesses. Through our therapy (i.e., exploratory and evidence-based) and coaching (i.e., action-oriented) approach, leaders can understand the root causes of their behaviors, strengths, and weaknesses. They can also work to change their behaviors to enhance leadership functioning, engagement, influence, and well-being.

OCD Therapy

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a mental health condition that affects people by causing constant, unwanted thoughts (called obsessions) and repetitive actions (called compulsions). These thoughts and behaviors can make daily life difficult and can feel overwhelming. If you live in Miami and are struggling with OCD, we are here to help you manage it so you can live a better, more balanced life.

Why Choose Us for Evaluations in Evaluations?

1

Expert-Led Psychological Evaluations

Our President’s Ph.D. psychology level of education and our client-focused and culturally humble approach differentiates us. Our PhD-level psychologist oversees all evaluations steps in an attempt to offer trusted results and/or diagnoses. Our focus is to provide research-based and helpful recommendations for various diagnoses, concerns, and strengths to help improve people’s quality of life. ICPS can offer most evaluations and treatments in Spanish and English.

2

Comprehensive Approach

Mental health concerns are complex syndromes, and they can co-occur with one another at high rates. We believe in using a variety of methods, from multiple raters of symptoms to clinical interviews to standardized assessments, to make the most accurate diagnoses. We do not believe in using one clinical interview or assessment to diagnose—we do not think this would yield helpful, long-term, or the most accurate results for our clients, from children to adults.

3

Personalized Recommendations And Support

After a collaborative process of intake(s), standardized evaluations for your unique needs, and a 30-60+ page report of your interpreted results, we may recommend treatments, actions, and accommodations to address mental health, work/career, and educational concerns. Complete and relevant recommendations for IEPs, 504 plans, & MCAT, SAT, Bar, Board-Certification, and other examination accommodations can be offered (if applicable). Treatment options (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Leadership Therapy, and Career or Executive Functioning Coaching) in our office are also available if applicable.

Our Evaluation Services in Miami

ADHD Evaluations

Our ADHD or ADD evaluation process comprehensively assesses symptoms and impairments in functioning while considering multiple standardized assessment (e.g., cognitive, neuropsychological) scores. Importantly, we strive to differentiate ADHD symptoms from other possible symptoms as well as consider common co-occurring disorders.

Autism Evaluations

Our Autism Spectrum Disorder evaluations for children (ages 4+), teens, and adults incorporate the ADOS 2, ADI-R, and other clinically recommended measures. The ADI-R (Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised) and ADOS 2 (Autism Diagnostic Schedule, Second Edition) are gold standard assessments for assessing Autism Spectrum Disorders across the lifespan (for providers adequately trained in doing so).

Dyslexia Evaluations

Our Miami practice specializes in dyslexia testing for children, teens, and adults. If you or a loved one is struggling with reading and writing skills, getting tested for dyslexia can provide valuable insights and help guide you toward the right support.

Gifted Evaluations

Gifted evaluations incorporate cognitive or IQ assessments and clinical interviews to provide a child or teen with educational programming commensurate with abilities, when applicable.

Learning Disability Evaluations

Learning disability evaluations for Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, or Dyscalculia are typically used to provide evidence of a Specific Learning Disorder as well as to identify academic and cognitive strengths and weaknesses. Consistent with the latest science, we use a Pattern of Strengths and Weaknesses and neuropsychological approach.

Neuropsychological Evaluations

Neuropsychological evaluations, including memory, language, executive functioning, attention, visuospatial, and learning evaluations, can help answer more specific questions about brain-related functioning. Although we offer some assessments in this area, at times, we may refer a client to a more specialized provider in this area, however.

Psychological Evaluations

Psychological evaluations can help clarify more intricate diagnoses (e.g., mood disorders, OCD) and identify the strengths of each individual with the intent of improving functioning or providing accommodations.

Whether you have queries about our services, the therapeutic process, or anything else related to mental health and well-being, we’re here to assist you. Feel free to reach out, and we’ll do our best to provide the answers and support you’re looking for.

– Psychological testing and therapy fees with a Licensed Psychologist (Ph.D. Level Provider) will be provided in the initial documents to be completed before your appointment. The first step in any process is a clinical interview, lasting approximately 90 minutes. For minors, the initial session is only conducted with the legal guardian(s). For minors, we need all legal guardians to first consent to any service. Adults must be legally competent to consent to a service.

Please note that in the clinical interview session, a client or the provider may determine a potential client is not a good fit for services, and we are happy to attempt to provide other referrals when possible.

– After the clinical interview, you will receive a good faith estimate for the recommended testing/evaluation or therapy process. This good faith estimate must be signed prior to scheduling. We will only have the total estimated evaluation/testing fee available after the initial session once your customized goals, priorities, and needs are determined. You will need to pay the full testing/evaluation fee noted in the good faith estimate before scheduling the remaining evaluation/testing sessions. Our total testing/evaluation fee includes all steps [(clinical interview, agreed upon assessment administration, assessment scoring, assessment interpretation, writing of a detailed report, and 50-minute review of results only with the adult client or legal guardian(s)] completed by a PhD-level licensed psychologist. For therapy or coaching sessions, fees are due at the time of service. Payment plans or sliding scale fees/reduced rates are not available. Please note that private pay providers establish their own fees, and our fees are commensurate with market rates.

ICPS does not accept health insurances for various reasons. Importantly, we do not involve a third party (i.e., insurance company) in your treatment in order to ensure confidentiality to the highest degree possible; provide the highest quality of service without a third party determining your treatment specificity, length and frequency; and ensure timely service delivery.

Evaluations are intended to support or rule out specific diagnoses (e.g., Autism, ADHD, learning disabilities). Evaluations incorporate standardized psychological assessments (such as IQ, achievement, neuropsychological, and personality) results and a psychologist’s relevant experience to establish a diagnosis and treatment recommendations. Comprehensive psychological, psychoeducational, or neuropsychological evaluations are typically conducted by a licensed psychologist trained in the relevant area of concern. Evaluations can also be provided by a mental health professional who is supervised by a licensed psychologist.  At ICPS, our PhD-level psychologist provides all evaluation steps for children 4+ to adults. Our psychologist conducts all assessments to establish rapport with the client; maximize accuracy; and consider key behavioral observations.

Counseling or therapy offered at ICPS assists teens and adults with mental health concerns and career or academic concerns. Therapy must be provided by a licensed mental health professional or a graduate trainee who is supervised by a licensed mental health professional. This is intended to regulate the profession and ensure that individuals conducting counseling have received adequate training and supervision. This separates counseling from other professions, such as coaching.

Lastly, leadership development consulting (i.e., executive coaching and leadership trainings) is intended to develop leaders within organizations in order to improve individual, team, and organizational performance. A leadership consultant does not need to hold a license. However, many licensed psychologists receive training in leadership development and apply their transferable psychological skills in consulting roles. It is helpful to ask about a leadership consultant’s training; relevant certifications or licenses; and evidence of success of leadership development programs.

When searching for a provider, we recommend looking for relevant training, licensing, and cultural humility/competence. Ensure you feel comfortable approaching your provider, and they work with you collaboratively. We recommend you trust your provider’s clinical opinion. We recommend a provider who integrates and understands scientific research and stays updated with scientific studies relevant to your concerns.
