One-on-One
Therapy in Miami for Personal Growth

Harness healing and self-awareness through personalized counseling sessions

Child, teen, or adult therapy is most effective with a provider who is scientifically, patient-centered, and multiculturally trained. We strive to offer inclusive and action-based therapies for children, teens, and adults of diverse sociocultural identities (including culturally, linguistically, racially, gender identity, sexual orientation).

We offer therapies in English and Spanish for the following concerns:

Anxiety and Obsessive Compulsive Disorders

Anxiety and Obsessive Compulsive Disorders are characterized by chronic fear and avoidance, which can tremendously influence a person’s psychological wellbeing and functionality. Anxiety Disorders can be reliably treated with evidence-based approaches, such as Exposure and Response Prevention, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

We utilize Exposure and Response Prevention to help you confront avoided stimuli through a systematic process that attempts to change your conditioned and learned fear responses. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy incorporates changing your approach to distressing thoughts and emotions as well as increasing psychological flexibility. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy incorporates addressing narrow belief systems and thought processes as well as challenging unhelpful behavioral patterns.

Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder symptoms of inattention and/or hyperactivity and impulsivity can significantly impact a child, teen, or adult when not fully treated. ADHD is one of the disorders known to impact executive functioning, or higher cognitive processes, such as initiation, planning, and time management. Executive Functioning skills training in these areas has been supported in the research as beneficial to children, teens, and adults. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approaches may also help address unhelpful assumptions or behaviors contributing further to inattention or hyperactivity/impulsivity. When a child, teen, or adult is not responsive to these approaches, we also offer ABA therapy, which can facilitate behavior modification through methods that don’t involve ‘talk therapy.’

Executive Functioning Training

Executive functioning skills training may help individuals who broadly struggle with higher order cognitive processes, such as self-regulation, planning, and working memory. Executive functioning can be compromised due to other mental health concerns, such as Learning Disabilities, Anxiety Disorders, Traumatic Brain Injuries, Traumatic Stress, and more. Thus, we can help devise a strategic plan to address your executive functioning skills deficits and strengths.

Chronic Health Conditions

Chronic health conditions (autoimmune disorders, traumatic brain injuries, diabetes) are often comorbid with mental health concerns, likely due to possible shared risk factors as well as the distress that comes with managing a condition. As a provider with a chronic health condition, I understand the importance of holistically (i.e., physical, mental) addressing your condition. We offer evidence-based methods, such as Exposure Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to help navigate the challenges of a chronic condition.

Both group therapy and individual therapy can be effective, but they serve different purposes. Individual therapy offers personalized attention, privacy, and a treatment plan tailored to one person’s needs. Group therapy, on the other hand, provides shared experiences and peer support. The most suitable option depends on a person’s goals, comfort level, and mental health concerns. A psychologist can help determine which approach is the best fit.

Individual therapy allows clients to work one-on-one with a licensed psychologist, creating a safe and confidential environment to discuss personal challenges. Sessions are fully focused on the individual, which allows deeper exploration of emotions, thoughts, and experiences. At ICPS Therapy, individual sessions are designed to help clients develop personalized coping strategies and achieve meaningful progress at their own pace.

Individual therapy sessions offer several important benefits, including greater privacy, personalized guidance, and focused support. An experienced psychologist can offer immediate feedback and perspectives. Clients can openly discuss their thoughts and feelings without concern about others listening. Therapy also provides practical tools to manage stress, improve emotional well-being, and build healthier thinking patterns. Over time, these sessions can help individuals gain clarity, confidence, and stronger coping skills.

Individual therapy can help people understand how their communication patterns, emotions, and past experiences influence their relationships. Through therapy, individuals can learn healthier ways to express their emotions and needs, manage conflict, and build stronger emotional connections. Working with a psychologist can also help people recognize patterns that may be affecting their relationships and develop strategies to improve them.

Individual therapy helps people better understand the thoughts and triggers that contribute to anxiety. During sessions, clients learn practical coping strategies such as managing worry, challenging negative thinking patterns, and developing healthier responses to stress. Many individuals find that consistent therapy sessions help reduce anxiety symptoms and improve their overall sense of control and emotional balance.

Individual therapy can support people with ADHD by helping them develop better focus, organization, and emotional regulation skills. Therapy may include strategies for managing distractions, improving time management, and building healthier routines. At ICPS Therapy, psychologists work with individuals to create practical tools that help them navigate daily challenges and improve productivity and well-being.
